Encourage learning, support the Education Resource Center in Africa

Africa has so many wonders, but the irony that it is also the seat of un-learning brings tears and sorrow to many who believe that this continent should be the eye of the development storm in the 21st Century and beyond. Why have I chosen to use that verb in the negative sense: 'un-learning' ?

Imagine this: Africa has the potential to mobilize and organize its populace to engage in activities that in turn improve on skills. The skills in question are; employable skills, inter-personal and intra-personal relations, dependability, expatriate skills, problem-solving skills and synergistic-related skills and practices. This builds the development ecosystem required to create critical skills in people destined to be developed.  In not empowering a person to engage in activities that bring about competency and proficiency, one is forced to take the 'un-learning' path. There are various efforts to improve on living conditions in Africa.

Africa Empowerment Community Inc., Jjaggwe Foundation and the initiative that will culminate into the Education Resource Facility is one such effort.

Please join us as we mobilize resources to establish a resource center in Africa whose mission is to bring together minds for development.

The Competent African Child; Help establish an Education Resource Center in Africa

Today more than ever, the African Child must be prepared to make friends with the American, Canadian, European, Japanese, Australian and Chinese child. The African child must be skilled, employable, flexible, productive and have a high self esteem. But, this may only be possible if the African parent is committed to making this child educated. The African leader and parent or benefactor must be willing to not only continue with training the African artistic performances, ceremonies, games, festivals, dancing, singing and drawing, but train the African child in infotech skills that put her/him in line with other children elsewhere. There are organizations world-wide with well-wishing missions and persons involved in making sure this happens. African country governments need to be supported to create better environments for investment. NGO's can only come in when an investment environment is conducive. Communities in Africa should be encouraged to look at the education of their children as a priority. Jjaggwe Foundation's Education Resource Center is one of those organizations that are ready to make these changes in Africa.

We are not ashamed to say we have researched about Africa and seen what others also do for their communities and children. Africans are hard working people who have lived long on a very unforgiving continent. Where the climate can change and affect livestock and crop production. But, there is hope now. The times for complaining are long gone. We can make friends with those willing to help us. The time is now.

This article is bringing you links and experiences through which we can learn from others. Read the links below and find out you too can help Jjaggwe Foundation's Education Resource Center be established in Uganda:

We are set to send over 25 million text books to Africa by 2023. Help us establish resource centers in Africa. We need to provide space for reading, discussion, intellectual discourse and a culture of reading in Africa. Reading improves competency, employability and dependability of a person. Make the African child so.

Support our Book Collection Effort!

Are you aware that as you read this line, in Africa there are 100s of 1000s who are dropping out of school just because they could not do private reading in turn because they do not have access to a text book. A text book enables one to read, assimilate and understand a principle or a point. Help us collect and ship books to Africa.

The 10 basic charitable acts and good practices that can make adjusting to American society/community possible:

1.       Meshing with your hosts: at all times show courtesy to your hosts
2.       Appreciating and finding what you can do: After studying your environment get something to do in order to earn respect, money and continued positive regard.
3.       The kitchen practices: Wash utensils, prepare meals for all, store food that is not warm in the fridge. Clean kitchen area at any opportunity. Use the food wrapper sparingly if you are to use microwave as this avoids heated food spilling all over the insides of the microwave.
4.       The bath/wash-room practices: use the bath/wash-room knowing that others will also use it and after clean it. In case you are using a public laundry ensure you have coins ready as most machines do take coins. WAIT UNTIL YOUR CLOTHES ARE READY AND THEN PICK THEM TO LEAVE ROOM FOR OTHERS.
5.       Throwing away garbage/waste: Garbage or waste is thrown in baskets with polythene-bag insertions which once full up are tied up at the rim and carried to kips/bins.
6.       Sharing the doors, alleys and lifts: Hold door for others until they have passed through once you are the first to open the door. Walk on the right to leave the left side for those approaching you.
7.       Road discipline/Transport means: Follow all road use instructions to avoid penalties.
8.       Meeting other Americans: America has a multitude of races and people from different countries. Learn something through meeting them or making friends.
9.       Working in the American society: Arrive earlier at work, keep on the job and sign out appropriately.
10.   Sharing your dollars with the team: You may be staying in a place with others. If the arrangement is cash-pooling adhere to it.
